Expansion & Growth

Under the leadership of Shrimant Narayanrao, the library experienced significant growth in terms of book collection, membership, and socio-cultural activities. It became a vibrant center for literary discussions, lectures, and educational programs.

1970: The centenary of Apte Wachan Mandir was celebrated. Iconic initiatives such as Vasant Vyakhyanmala, elocution competitions, awards, and reader awareness programmes were launched and continue till today.

A New Era – 1981 to 1986

After India’s independence, ownership of the library building was transferred to the Government. Following sustained efforts by the management, ownership was restored in 1981, and a new spacious library building was inaugurated in 1986 — marking a modern chapter in its legacy.
